Therapy for Individuals & Families
Infertility Counseling

Looking for counseling or therapy
on the Northshore?

My name is Sarah Pokorny and I offer therapy to individuals and families in Mandeville, Covington, and the Greater New Orleans area.  People seek out therapy for a variety of reasons.  Perhaps you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or are overhwhelmed with difficult emotions or a relationship.  Perhaps you are experiencing the stress of infertility.  You may even be a parent whose child needs help getting through a difficult phase.

I offer a supportive and compassionate presence, a safe environment and practical skills to help you regain balance.  I will help you to live more spontaneously, creating more of what you may want in your life - relaxation, fulfilling relationships, a sense of ease and well being.

I will focus on your strengths and listen to you without judgment.  I use traditional talk therapy combined with cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques, experiential approaches and mind/body medicine.

I offer affordable psychotherapy services to individuals, families and couples in my Mandeville / Covington office

When choosing a therapist, finding someone you trust and feel comfortable with is essential.  Please take a look around this website to see if my approach feels like a good fit for you.  I also offer a free 15 minute phone consultation if that would be helpful to you before starting therapy.

For more information you may call or email me.

Rating Your Worries

Worrying can be productive when it helps us come up with a solution to a problem, but excessive worrying actually decreases our ability to cope.  To differentiate in your own head, make a list of all your worries and rate the importance of each issue on a scale of 1 to 10 (based on your own feelings, not what others think).  Next, make a list of your priorities in life; include both needs and wants.

Now compare:  Do the concerns atop your worry list match the ones on your priority list?  If not, reassess the amount of energy you devote to each.  Limit your worries to the top three each day.  Make new lists every few months to spot shifts in priorities and patterns in worries.

-Adapted from Jessica Hurley's book, "Worry Dolls".
